Our hills are now ready to awaken, exploding with the blooming of our vineyards and orchards.
After the winter, these first warm sun rays make us want to go out, staying in the open air.
The Roero offers not only a territory full of paths, natural trails and itineraries around our Rocche, but also many events linked to the tradition, food and wine, sport and culture, which will make you live this area, UNESCO heritage.

In this article on BELVEDERE blog we will take you in discovering the 2018 events calendar, that characterize the Spring on Langa and Roero hills.

CANTE’ J’EUV

It literally means, “to sing the eggs”.
It is an ancient rite, which involved groups of young people who, during the Lenten period, moving through the countryside of Piedmont hills, reached the most isolated farmhouses to awaken the factors, requirinq, with music and songs, eggs for the upcoming Easter holidays.
This rithual has been recovered and revisited in the last decades, and every year, the location changes for a night of folklore, with typical dishes, good local wine, dances and popular music.

MESSER TULIPANO

APRIL SWEET BLOSSOM 

Netherland at a few km from Belvedere with the wonderful blooming of over 90.000 tulips.

In fact from March 31st to May 01st, into the Park of Pralormo Caste, will take place MESSER TULIPANO: the event, on its XIX edition, is once again different.

90.000 blooming tulips of every colour, each with its botanic peculiarity, each with its different shade.

Not only this undisputed protagonist but also a carpet of muscari, hyacinths and narcissus will beautify the Park.

The blooming of this “floral cloud” is charaterized by some events and a leitmotiv that, for this edition, is Il parco si tinge di rosa (The park in rose). Not only for the colour and the softness , but also for the flower and its variety.

Messer Tulipano program includes activities, musical entertainments , meetings and tasting . For the kids there will be dedicated activities, little tractors of New Holland and on Easter Monday the traditional “Eggs Hunting”.

If this floral paradise will make you want to renew or beautify your garden, no problem !! You can do shopping among the flower and plant stands.

Messer Tulipano also inaugurates the new season of openings to the public of the castle and proposes two different itineraries, dedicated respectively to daily life in an ancient castle  and a nineteenth-century plastic model animated by miniature vintage trains.

A road to walk will take you up to the Castle located on a small hill; once you have crossed the front door, you will be literally conquered and captivated by the charm of these flower gardens and old trees.

Spend your day walking and losing yourself among flowerbeds, greenhouses, ponds and woods almost enchanted.

Ah, a suggestion.

ROERO DAYS

After having conquered the public into the charming scenario of the Reggia di Venaria during the first edition, and having fascineted the guests at the Museo dei Navigli in Milan in 2017, the third appointment that let us know Roero area and Roero Arneis, this year, plays at home!

It will be in fact Guarene castle to host the ROERO DAYS event.
The calendar is very large and includes many appointments to save on the agenda: not only focussed on the presentation of new vintages and the labels of the 75 exhibiting cellars, but also events connected to the culture of ROERO territory.

FIERA DEL LIBRO SUL ROERO

The wonderfulf Piazza San Michele will frame the first edition of this event, linked to the “Roero Days”, to valorize and promote the great studies and research heritage on the Roero.

Literary and memorial lounges, stands of libraries and cultural associations, exhibitions of all the existing publications on the Roero, a music festival on Saturday evening, will animate this weekend in Montà.

The Roero, not just to walk. Also to browse.

What spring would it be without Vinum?

Also this year Alba will be the prestigious “window”, focused on the best wine production of Langhe and Roero.
The city squares will become tasting tables dedicated to tasting the main wines produced in the area.

A city full of events, tourists, proposals and fun opportunities… Alba is always beautiful, but when there is Vinum, according to us, it is even more beautiful!

TRAIL DELLE ROCCHE DEL ROERO

Are you a runner, or do you simply like walking?

So TRAIL OF ROCCHE, now in its third edition, is right for you !!
Routes from 21 km – 12 km – 6 km (easy walking) on the charming Roero paths through woods, vineyards and panoramic views over the Rocche.

PORTE’ DISNE’

It means literally, “to bring the lunch” and it was a dialectal expression used once in Roero to mean the ritual of bringing lunch to family members in the fields or in the vineyard.

Around noon, women and children went to the vineyards with the lunch basket to deliver to husbands, fathers, grandparents, brothers who could not stop the work, by returning home for the meal.

The event, now in its twenty-fifth edition, intends to reconnect with this tradition through a “traveling” lunch along a pleasant path between the hills and the landscapes in the nature of Montà and Canale.
At the start the participants will be provided with a vimini basket with a glass, ceramic plate and cutlery; proceeding through the country paths, they will be entertained by music and songs and will then be able to stop and taste wines and other local dishes, and reach Canale, for the final dance.

A pair of comfortable shoes, maybe a typical straw hat and you will be catapulted on a Sunday, impossible to forge

NOTTURNI NELLE ROCCHE

The night walks proposed by the Ecomuseo, together the Roero Pro Loco and local associations of the territory, is now an unmissable appointment.

A couple of hours of walking on the Roero paths in the moonlight, the song of crickets, moments of theatrical or musical animation, the final snack with goodnight herbal teas and the delicious “turcet” are the secret of the success of the Notturni nelle Rocche.

MANGIA IN ROCCA

Food and wine, tradition and nature meet, in its eleventh edition of this gastronomic walk through the suggestive Rocche del Roero.

A Sunday of wonderful landscapes, delicious food, great wine and … fun !!
